We are a group of journalism students from the College of Mass Communication at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Our group is in the process of writing a news article about THE SURGE OF ONLINE SELLERS OFFERING HEAVILY ‘DISCOUNTED’ PRICES ON PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTIONS, as a major requirement for our J 102: News Reporting class. You asked for Memorandum issued by the department against illegally-obtained accounts being sold online..

Response to Request

Your FOI request is approved. I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested.

Please note that we are only able to provide some of the information you have requested for as  the following incident statistics is for the 1st and 2nd quarter of the current year. However, for the requested memorandums, we only released public advisories regarding phishing and credit card theft.

As for the total number of credit card information that were actually sold, unfortunately we do not have the number and the means to monitor that. But more extensive information gathering relating to these kinds of incidents is already included in our roadmap, especially if there is a Philippines-related information that is affected.
