I am writing to inquire about existing Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations or standards that pertain to work on energized systems exceeding 600 volts, specifically in environments like power supply substations.

Our organization is currently in the process of refining our deployment schedule, particularly in areas that involve the operation and maintenance of high-voltage systems. In our commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of our employees, we are exploring the implementation of a "buddy system" during such tasks.

Could you kindly provide information or guidance.

Dear MARY DANICA BONSIT,

Thank you for your request dated Jan 26, 2024, 09:42:27 AM under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch.

You asked for OSH Regulation on working on energized systems.

It is with regret that the DOLE at present does not have OSH Standards specific to the Energy Sector. Nonetheless, you may check with the Department of Energy.

It is also worth knowing that the OSHA Guidelines require "buddy system"  for the ENERGIZED Sector.

As a general rule, in the absence of a National Standards, the establishments may refer to the Standards of other reputable organizations abroad.
