Asking for financial assistance for covid 19 positive. No work,no pay.

Dear Citizen,


This has reference to your letter received by our office through Electronic Freedom of Information (eFOI) Portal, requesting a financial aid for a COVID-19 positive individual.

In this regard, may we inform you that based on the review and assessment conducted by the Freedom of Information (FOI) Officers, the said request has been denied on the basis that the request is not for information but rather a request for financial assistance. Executive Order No. 2, s. 2016 only applies to request of information that the government possesses and has custody of.

Further, the grant of financial assistance is not within the mandate of the agency. Nevertheless, may we recommend that the request be directed to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) which has programs that provide financial assistance for disadvantaged families.
