Greetings!

Subject: Request for laboratory testing for Pineapple Leaf Fibers

With reference to the request, we are 3rd-year students from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. We are conducting a study entitled “Evaluation of Properties and Behavior of Pineapple Leaf Fiber Geotextile Reinforced with Vetiver Grass against Soil Erosion.” The physical and mechanical properties of PALF will be part of a research project to help future researchers in addressing the urban landslide issue that happened in Barangay Samay, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.

In this regard, we would like to request the following test:

1. ASTM-D5261: Mass per Unit Area

2. ASTM-D4491: Water Permittivity

3. No. of Twines/ unit length (direct method)

We will use the data solely for research purposes. We are committed to working closely with your office to ensure that the research is conducted in a professional and ethical manner. We believe that the data will help us better understand the properties of PALF to be used as a geotextile against soil erosion.

We hope that you will consider granting our request for us to conduct this research. Any concerns or issues about this study, please do not hesitate to contact us thru our research leader bsce.manticajon.araver@gmail.com/09354556723. Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your response.

Below is the attached copy of a signed formal letter.

Yours truly,

ELISHA GAIL C. TAGOLIMOT
