Dear Ms. Wee,

Thank you for your request with Tracking No. #TAPI-313232585339 dated 20 February 2023 07:54:30 A.M. under Executive Order No. 2 (s. 2016) on the Freedom of Information in the Executive Branch, for Startup's company profile and funding data assisted by DOST-TAPI for 01/01/2020 - 01/31/2023.

The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 128 on 30 January 1987 and is one of DOST's service agencies whose primary responsibility is to promote the commercialization of technologies and market the services of other operating units of the Department. On 28 April 1992, DOST-TAPI's function was expanded by virtue of Republic Act No. 7459, otherwise known as the "Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines". Among others, DOST-TAPI administers the Invention Development Assistance Fund (IDAF) for the initial experiments and prototype development and other invention-development related activities.

As to your first request, Philippine startups' company profiles and venture capital funding, we do not have the information being requested as mentioned in our letter dated 17 February 2023. We have also mentioned in our letter that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) or with the DOST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) may have the information and that you are requesting. Please see the attached copy of our previous letter for your reference.

As to your second request, Startup's company profile and funding data assisted by DOST-TAPI for 01 January 2020 – 31 January 2023. We would like to inform you that there was only one startup company that was assisted by DOST-TAPI in the period requested. In 2021, Exotic Organicum Mushroom Farm sought the assistance of DOST-TAPI for the project entitled “Oyster Mushroom Production” amounting to Php246,108.11 which was mentioned in our Annual Report for 2021. The copy of the Annual Repost can be found at the DOST-TAPI Website. Please see link for your easy reference:
