Mamato 07:38 AM, Aug 11, 2023

Good day! I would like to request the following:

1. a comprehensive list of endemic tree species in the country, and
2. a comprehensive list of non-native (introduced) tree species in the country.

The above will be used as resources in my creative work. It would also be highly appreciated if the bureau can provide details such as morphological characteristics, habitat, region, details on introduction (if non-native), etc.

Thank you! I am looking forward to your response.

Your Request

You asked for Comprehensive List of Endemic and Non-Native Tree Species in the Philippines.

Response to Request

This is in connection with your request dated 11 August 2023 through PCOO Freedom of Information (FOI) Request Web Portal asking for comprehensive lists of endemic and non-native tree species in the country. To date, the country has no complete list on the distribution status of these tree species (native and exotic). The DENR-Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) is still in the process of updating the list. There are various initiatives. of listing these species, which can be found in various reliable publications and references (books, guidebooks, administrative order, and websites).
Attached is a summary list of references that you may check for more information on Philippine Trees. There is also a recent book publication by the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) in 2017, titled "Book of Trees: UPLB-EDC BINHI Biodiversity Park" featuring some of the highly economically and ecologically valued native trees in the country (see attached Table 1).

We hope that the information provided to you will be of great help on your endeavor.

Your right to request a review

If you are not satisfied with the result of the review, you then have the right to appeal to the Office of the President under Administrative Order No. 22 (s. 2011).
